It was a bright sunny Tuesday as we are going on a quick visit at the Garin Farm Pilgrimage Resort located in San Joaquin, Iloilo, Philippines along with my relatives. A week before, my tita invited us to attend my cousin’s graduation and have a visit at the place on the next day. We took a long ride around one hour and thirty minutes by our private vehicle going in there. Upon going to the place, you’ll also get a chance to see different luxurious houses around Tigbauan and pass by the Miagao Church or also known as Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parish Church.
You have to pay 150 PHP/person as for the entrance fee. Sadly, the only guarantee discounts only to senior citizens as of now. They also have the policy of no bringing any outside foods and drinks inside.
As you get inside the farm, you’ll be to see first the hanging plants, organic garden on the left side and also chicken coops too. There are also different animals inside. But make sure to cover your nose because you’ll be going to smell a-not-so strong foul odor while crossing the farm.
Nipa Hut or also called as “Bahay Kubo” is known for the iconic stilt house of Philippine Rural Culture.
This is where we ate our lunch. We had a lot of dishes and before entering the restaurant, you must pass by the mini store outside beside the information and have the must try a taste of their own ice cream! They have assorted flavors (Milk, Chocolate, Pandan and Ube). It will only cost you around 12PHP. Perfect for a hot weather.
There are also various activities inside the place such as sitting/superman zip line, horse riding, boating, fishing, billiard. I wanted to try some of them but I can’t bear the heat of the sun. We actually went there with the weather of approximately 34 to 36 degrees. I was a bit regret leaving my polo shirt inside the car even if I already put sunblock spray.
I was strolling around the place since we have to wait for the food since there are a lot of tourists around, I found this sight and I took a shot and to be honest, I find this very breathtaking image! The clouds look very calm and peaceful plus the nature vibe underneath the sky. One of my most favorite shot during our whole visit.
After we had our lunch, we decided to get inside the pilgrimage. I felt very excited and eagers to get to the top real quick because I was very curious what is the place really looked like.
When entering the place, this is the first who will be going to welcome you as go on ahead to the steps.
We walked through 400 steps, which is known as the “Stairway Steps to Heaven”. Although it was quite tiring going up but you’ll be able to see some statue figures as you walk along. What will you going to see inside is the following images below:
You’ll be able to see Jesus welcoming you at the pilgrimage. And even might congratulating you for making it reach to the top step, lol. I actually find myself very amusing and felt achieved that I made it until the last step. There is also a mini canteen in there, so if you find yourself in need to quench thirst, they are selling bottled water for 25 PHP.
I and my cousin continued to walk after a 5-minute break (only for me because I felt a bit of dizziness), we went inside and the area was very dim but there are a guide pink lights inside like the ones in the airport lanes when departing.
In the middle of the walk, you’ll be going to see this Jesus Christ in who is giving you light along the way. The vibe of the place is very sacred because before entering the dark place, you are advised to keep the place silenced and refrain from shouting.
We made it to the to the highest place of the pilgrimage! It felt me I was stepping on the grounds of heaven. I’m pretty sure the people who also go up in this place will feel blessed because you’ll be going to see the brightest angels on your both sides and there’s even a “hallelujah” song in the background. The place is absolutely marvelous!
I didn’t have the chance to take a photo to cover the place inside for it didn’t fit the who field for my camera. When entering the gate, you’ll see more angels surrounds the area. You’ll be stunned by the beauty of the sky and clouds above which it makes very nice to see.
Of course, our obligatory pose for making it to the top, why not?
My last view of the above before going home.
A bonus tip from me:
- Spray/Put some sunblock before traveling so your skin could absorb and can also moist your skin.
- Drink plenty of water. It will make you hydrated all day.
- Dress your most comfortable and bring extra clothes, a shirt will be fine and make sure to get yourself changed because I guarantee you’ll get soaked from a heavy sweat!
- Bring your own Sunvisor/sunglasses with to cover your eyes from the sunlight.
Till we meet again, I will come back. I promise.
